FORM: Family Record

The picture taken after a memorial service called the first anniversary of my grandmother’s death.

Title: FORM: Family Record
Medium: Oil painting
Size: Approx. 170cm x 90cm Panel9
Year:2004

The work includes painting and text. Eight paintings of human figure illustrate actual size of the body of my family: grandparents, parents, and brothers. Although there are several means to “record,” such as photography, and video, this way seemed the most real to record actual physical quality of the person, such as her/his height and her/his size of foot. The text is written by grandparents on her/his private memories. While two grandmothers have passed away since then, their painting still remains in their home.
